Atop Pleasant Mountain, Denmark, Maine USA

Gabe climbed his first mountain this summer. We went on a hike up Pleasant Mountain (el. 2006'), with Jeff and Jeanne and Sheila's friend Nancy and her boys. Gabe was determined to not only climb the mountain himself, but to be the first in line ahead of anybody else. I almost missed carrying him, because I actually enjoy the extra leg workout but carrying myself was enough :-).

One of the highlights of the climb was when we happened upon a full-size (3') garden snake. I caught it, and let the kids pet it before we let it go sun itself some more.
