Nice hike

This week started off with a nice little diversion. I went with a group of 7 (4 adults and 3 teens) on a 2-day hike through the Franconia Notch section of the White Mountains (just opposite the Indian Head and Canon Mountain alongside Rte 93) in Lincoln, NH. We hiked about 17 miles althogether, and climbed 5 peaks in those two days. http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?z=19&n=4892482&e=287810&s=200&size=l&u=0... at the Basin, we quickly got to the Whitehouse trail http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?z=19&n=4887524&e=285312&u=0 We took the Liberty Springs Trail to the top (almost) of Mount Liberty. From there, we travelled on the Franconia Ridge Trail over Little Haystack Mountain, Mt. Lincoln and then on to Mt. Lafayette before descending down to the Greenleaf Hut (AMC) where we stayed for the night.

The next morning, we ascended back to the top of Mt. Lafayette, and turned North to head along the Garfield Ridge Trail to the summit of Mt. Garfield. Then we headed down the Garfield Trail to the trailhead which is at the end of a dirt road off of Rt. 3 http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?z=19&n=4900441&e=289525&u=0

Food at the hut was delicious, and the weather really was excellent. The second day threatened to give us Thunderstorms, but they never showed up.
